HarveyH55★★★★★ (5197)	Idalia had to be one of the strangest hurricanes I've experienced in my 35+ years in Florida. For a Cat 4 hurricane, inland it was more of a mild tropical storm. Not even that... We got a lot of rain, but not the torrential down pour, that you can't hardly see the road. Used intermittent wipers... What was really weird, was lack of strong winds. Hardly even breezy, no storm debris on the roads at all. Not even a little. Even when past hurricanes just rode the coastline, we still got damaging wind and rain inland. Some mess to clean up. I'm not complaining, just confused. Been hearing the hype and hysteria about stronger, more intense hurricanes for years. Haven't seen much on the news showing wind damage on the coast, just flooding due to storm surge. I have to wonder if the climate change weather service is manipulating coverage of storms. I notice years ago, that storms were less impressive, than hyped. Figure it was more modern, and better measuring/monitoring tools. Idalia shouldn't have rated more than a tropical storm. Of course all tropical weather events get hyped, since it's better people prepare for the worst. Or at least pay attention. Not to mention rush out and buy lots of stuff... Which will kind of suck for me, since it makes more work for a couple of weeks. Not overly concerned, been through a lot of storms, and will get through a lot more. But, this over-the-top, ridiculous hype of weak storms, as monster hurricanes is going to get old fast, people are going to just ignore the warnings. There will be badass storms occasionally, it's Florida... Instead of relatively few casualties, there will be a rapid increase. Instead of a news crew on the beach, waiting and watching the storm approach, their are going to get crowds out there, not concerned at all.
