The psychologists call it cognitive dissonance, a state of discomfort arising from disagreement between reality and one's mental model of the world. If you manage to adjust your mental model to better match reality, then you might feel better. In the long run that's probably a better approach than your current coping strategy of attempting to ignore reality.

I'm so glad you brought this up.

Your world view, in which you have invested so much of your identity, is wrong.

You can't have a planet's temperature increase while its radiance decreases.

All these bizarre miracles of nature you need to invent in order to sew your mistake-filled world view into reality are results of your cognitive dissonance.
