If they are so confident that man has influence over weather events, and can prevent them. Wouldn't be also likely that these mad climatologist are causing these catastrophic events, to demonstrate their control? It's something I've thought of many times, since childhood. The science of studying weather and nature in general, seemed to be to understand how weather happens. The hope was someday to prevent/mitigate the catastrophic events. Mostly, it came from the farming community, where droughts ruined crops, but so did flooding, and hail storms. Drought can be mitigated with irrigation, to a point. If there is a water source to pump from, and enough pipe. Costly, when rain is free. Food production is important to most people, so you would think getting some control over weather, would be a goal, that's always there, and somebody working toward the prize. Good intentions, aren't always used as intended though. There will be some to see the potential of weather control, being used as a powerful weapon. Obviously, governments would ponder the wisdom of releasing weather control technology to the rest of the world. Specially if anybody could do it. Governments like to retain control. Obviously, if you are a farmer, you are going to want to make it rain some, regularly, to get the best yield from your crops. Not everybody farms, and frequent rain showers is everybody's hope and dream. Even among farmers, there a crops that don't really like daily rain, or they rot. Personally, I don't think it wise to try and control nature. We've done fine adapting to what ever nature throws at us. And nature has done a great job keeping a balance, where life continues to thrive. Some will benefit, some will get screwed over. Nature doesn't care who benefits. If mankind took over, certain people would benefit, and most everyone else would get screwed over. |

There was no weather before humans. This is why we need to refer to the age of humanity as the Anthropocene Epoch and to the Industrial Revolution and thereafter as the Anthroterracatastrophic. We did it. We turned what was a thriving, life-filled paradise planet into a smoking husk of polluted filth floating through space. We contaminate any orbit we enter. We are a monstrosity of a species and we should be banned from the solar system. If only we had just imposed steeper taxes and fees back when we had the chance, back before the tipping point, back when the IPCC was foretelling the dire consequences of extending liberty to people willy-nilly. Now we're stuck in quicksand and only our nose remains above the surface. We should have paid attention to our CO2 tanks and noted that they never cooled but no, we were too busy using hydrocarbons to power our little cars instead of using hydrocarbons to power electrical generators to produce electricity to power our little cars. We don't have much time left. The ocean has already risen to the level of every beach on the planet and is pushing up with great force on the bottom of practically every boat/ship that tries to venture out into the water. Clorox fills its bottles with free bleach from the Pacific ocean. ... and now gravity has decided to dog-pile on Climate and create thermal energy out of raw tense conflation. We should all just stay drunk until the end.  |
