|Birds like crows do very well in the snow when temperature is below 0. Dinosaurs are birds. Same genes. Dinosaurs would have done well in the snow below 0. There is no proof past climate was warmer than now when CO2 was much more. |
In fact, Dimetrodon had solar absorbing fins, suggesting climate was cooler than today when CO2 was much more.

Birds are endothermic - warm blooded - that way they can get along for reasonably short periods of time in cold weather. The problem with endotherms is that they require a large amount of food and the plant eaters must spend the majority of their time eating. Elephants eat something like 18 hours out of every day.
Whether all or some of the ichthyosaurs were endothermic has been a source of discussion and puzzlement. After all - fish are exothermic (cold blooded), save for the tuna. And it achieves it's endothermy in a manner rather different. It swims very rapidly all the time generating heat via muscle action which causes the blood system to expand. Fresh tuna as most of you probably know is red meat whereas Swordfish which is otherwise very similar is not.
We do know that the temperature over the last 10 thousand years has made a pretty constant reduction in temperature and we are presently living in the coldest average temperature period of that time.
During the later portion of the Cretaceous, from 65 to 100 million years ago, average global temperatures reached their highest level during the last ~200 million years. The KT (Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary appears to be a cooling period in which at least the majority of Dinosaurs disappeared) though the largest members such as Tyrannosaurus and Brachiosaurus appear to have gone extinct perhaps 45 million years before that after a sudden drop in temperature and cooling climate that no doubt changed their food sources too rapidly for them to evolve with it. And for 99% of the Earth's life it has been warmer than present by a considerable margin.
The sail of the Dimetrodon has unknown uses. It was probably too thin to carry heat effectively to use as a thermo-control mechanism so its not likely. Remember that it could just as easily been cooled faster than it could absorb the Sun's heat. Perhaps it wa a mating display? Let's remember that absolutely preposterous display of the Peacock.
And we have no evidence that there WAS a sail other than impressions since no skin material has ever been found and impressions can be misleading.
But the thing which is overwhelmingly clear is that the Earth knows how to take care of itself without any help from man.
"old sick silly sleepy sleezy slimy steenkin' filthy vile reprobate rooting (& rotting) racist pukey proud pig AGW denier liar whiner wake-me-up" woofs:... the Earth knows how to take care of itself without any help from man.
However, AGW denier liar whiners can't take care of sigh-ants even if they have science chemistry astronomy physics algebra & pre-calc in high school diplomas.
