What happens next with the fluoride in the drinking water?
The ruling by a US judge, an "Obama judge" at that, is unlikely to stand.
It is unlikely that an appellate court would agree there is compelling evidence of harm to IQ from even the maximum current allowed levels of fluoride in drinking water.
In the unlikely event that an appeal upholds the ruling, it will only impact a tiny fraction of the US population. A few places will have to designate the water supply unpotable, unless they can dilute or otherwise reduce the naturally occurring high fluoride content.
The judge's ruling, even if upheld all the way to the Supreme Court, will not stop the deliberate addition of low levels of fluoride that impacts most of the US population.
What RFK Jr and Trump want to do is a whole different question.
Or the wild card would be that the US Supreme Court designate themselves to the super scientists and declare ALL levels of fluoride in water to be hazardous.
REALITY CHECK
This thread began about a US Federal judge ruling about the MAXIMUM amount of fluoride EPA allows in drinking water.
This will not affect ANY water system to which fluoride is deliberately added.
They are all way below the maximum amount allowed by EPA, and would continue to be under the judge's ruling.
A very small minority of water supplies containing naturally high concentrations of fluoride WILL be affected, if the ruling stands.
So, nobody is going to STOP ADDING fluoride under the ruling.
Some will have to figure out how to REMOVE naturally occurring fluoride, or find another source of drinking water.
Trump knows that "fluoride is not a chemical" because he is super smart.
So when Trump used the word "fluoride" in describing some of the tasks that RFK Jr. is eminently qualified to supervise, he knew damn well that fluoride not a chemical. So, why would he even use the word "fluoride"?
Well, Trump also understands that whatever minimal benefit fluoride in water might provide for dental health, it is FAR outweighed by the harm caused by the epidemic of mental retardation being caused by fluoride poisoning.
He even saw someone explaining it on television, so he knows all about it.
And RFK Jr. will fix it!
Trump has already specifically identified removing fluoride from water as something that RFK Jr. is qualified to take charge of.
RFK Jr. will offer his expertise as an environmental scientist and medical genius.
And he will surely be fully compatible with Trump's climate policies.
It is so good to know that scientific competence is back in charge.
HOORAY!
RFK Jr. will help Trump save America's kids from fluoride-induced mental retardation.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Fluorapatite, a calcium fluoride phosphate with chemical formula Ca5(PO4)3F.
Fluorapatite IS A CHEMICAL. Fluoride, the name of an important anion in chemistry. "Fluoride" is not technically a "chemical", because it is not the complete name of a chemical formula. SO WHAT? Fluoride's chemistry doesn't care if you call it a chemical or not. But maybe it should be repeated for the 100th time that fluoride is not a chemical because it proves... something. Apparently it proves SOMETHING to repeat that fluoride is not a chemical.
THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF FLUOROSIS
Fluoride is the name of the anion of fluorine, and fluorides are the class of chemical compounds containing it.
Fluoride is needed to form the mineral fluorapatite, a calcium fluoride phosphate, which is the hard ingredient in tooth enamel.
Bones are made of calcium phosphate, with no fluoride included.
The first kind of fluorosis is the kind that allowed it to be discovered that fluoride is needed for decay resistant teeth.
Some natural spring waters contain high concentrations of fluoride.
People who drank the water their whole lives showed dark speckling in their teeth. They also never got cavities in their teeth.
In severe cases, chronic exposure to high fluoride water causes SKELETAL fluorosis, with some fluoride actually getting into bone.
The second kind of fluorosis is the kind that messed up my own teeth.
People who drink very low fluoride water are adapted to take up as much fluoride as possible from the meager supply.
When given fluoride supplement, if given in excessive amounts, way too much fluoride gets taken up into the teeth. Not good.
I am an extreme case, having secretly eaten and held down a bunch of fluoride pills as a child, to get an orders of magnitude overdose.
Apparently, it left me quite mentally retarded.
Fortunately, the graduate school at UC Berkeley had an excellent remedial education program for fluoride-induced mental retards such as myself.
But don't let this happen to anyone else!
Or YOU will be COMPLICIT in making the world more stupid.
------------------------------------------------------------------- WAIT! IT GETS BETTER!
What about giving people "poison" to make them SMARTER!
Chinese health officials determined in 1995 that they could INCREASE the average IQ of their citizens by 10 points, simply by giving them POISON.
A TEN POINT INCREASE in IQ, on average, is what the predict the benefit to be.
Most forms of Iodine are at LEAST as poisonous as fluoride! There are many different chemical forms of iodine, as is true for fluorine.
Hydrofluoric acid and periodic acid are both quite deadly if injested in relatively small amounts. Sodium iodide and sodium fluoride are both innocuous in relatively small amounts.
According to conspiracy theorists, fluoride can make people dumber.
According to medical scientists, iodide can make people smarter. The Chink... excuse me, the CHINESE are giving the people "poison" to make them smarter.
Many high mountain regions of the world have very low levels of iodine in the environment that can get into food or water. Extreme iodine deficiency causes goiters and growth problems. More common degrees of iodine deficiency simply limit potential brain development. About a third of China's population lives in high mountain regions where iodine deficiency is widespread.
The Chinese knew it would be way too expensive to put iodine in the water supply, though. So they mandated that table salt be iodized. No more plain salt in the stores, anyway.
So, do the math. Two thirds of the population is not IQ-limited by iodine deficiency. Their average IQ will continue to be 100. One third of the population IS IQ-limited by iodine deficiency. Their average IQ will be increased by THIRTY POINTS in order for the whole country average to be raised by ten.
Yes, the Chinese are deliberately "poisoning" their people to make them smarter!
By now, they probably have the data to know if it worked.
On the other hand, the Chinese authorities might already have serious regrets about the success of the iodine-deficiency-reduction policy.
China's only significant Muslim population lives in one of those high-mountain regions where iodine deficiency helped to keep the people stupid.
Perhaps the success of the iodized-salt-policy begun in 1995 is reflected in the fact that an entire population must now be "reeducated" in locked camps.
And perhaps the real goal of the fluoride-induced-retardation policy in the US is to keep the people stupid so they can be controlled without having to put them in locked camps.
Yes, there is a universe where it all makes sense.
Maybe the conspiracy theorists can show the data that convinced the scientific genius US "judge" to get so paranoid about fluoride.
They can interview me for living proof of just how retarded it makes a person to get a huge fluoride overdose. It certainly made my teeth retarded.

Federal judge orders EPA further regulate fluoride in drinking water due to concerns over lowered IQ in kids
It has been added to municipal water for decades, but a federal judge in California has ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to further regulate fluoride because high levels could pose "an unreasonable risk" to the intellectual development of children.
U.S. District Judge Edward Chen ruled Tuesday that the scientific evidence of fluoride's health risks when ingested at current prescribed levels requires stricter regulation under the 2016 Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The act provides a legal pathway for citizens to petition the EPA to consider whether an industrial chemical presents health risks.
Chen, in his 80-page ruling, wrote there is "little dispute" over whether fluoride is hazardous and ordered the EPA to take steps to lower that risk
LOL when they ban Fluoride, they will begin adding statins to the water to kill everyone

The concentration of fluoride anion in sea water ranges from 1.2 to 1.4 ppm
That is barely more than one milligram of fluoride per liter.
The EPA maximum limit for fluoride anion in drinking water is 4.0 ppm.
Less than four times more fluoride than found in sea water is the maximum allowed for drinking water.
According to a scientifically illiterate federal judge, less than four times as much fluoride as found in sea water is too hazardous for human consumption.
Fluoride is in all the land and water of the world. Some with more than others.
Trying to reduce its concentration in water supplies with naturally high fluoride, less than 4.0 ppm, would be a very expensive waste of time.
Declaring it to be too hazardous to add to drinking water even at the very low concentrations achieved by deliberate fluoridation would be STUPID.
Has Trump declared war on science?
Well have to see how "wild" RFK Jr goes on health.
Will they go so far anti science that they ban fluoridation?
Will people become afraid to eat seafood when they learn how much fluoride it contains?
The average ocean fish has about 3 ppm fluoride in its body before we eat it.
The fluoride content of seafood will probably exceed the new maximum limit allowed for drinking water, if the EPA (or Supreme Court or Presidential decree or whatever) reduces it as per federal judge's ruling.
Will RFK Jr go ALL THE WAY and get fluoride out of the FOOD SUPPLY as well?
Stay tuned.
It's going to be a "wild" ride!

Does someone need to tell RFK Jr that fluoride is not a chemical, so he will more fully understand the chemistry involved?

What is USAID and why does Elon Musk think it should die?
Perhaps within a week we will see the first documented statistics of how many people have already actually DIED as a consequence of cutting off USAID.
I could tell you about the kind of life saving projects USAID has been funding all over the world for more than 60 years.
I could tell you how well it has fulfilled its mission, along with Peace Corps and the Alliance for Progress - Two other programs JFK got started more than sixty years ago.
The legacy of those programs is not just healthier, better nourished, and better educated people. It is also the gratitude and respect these programs earned for the United States.
I even personally got about $5000 from USAID for a project in two rural elementary schools. Back then, and in a place like that, $5000 US was a LOT of money.
My main job was doing environmental education and reforestation in rural elementary schools as part of the Peace Corps forestry program.
Reagan tried to cut the Peace Corps budget in half the year before I joined. Fortunately, he was unsuccessful. That was back when presidents still respected congress as a legitimate check and balance.
So, through USAID I was able to get a $5000 grant to purchase materials to construct rainwater catchment and storage systems in two rural schools.
The money could only be used to pay for the cinder blocks, quick lime, rain gutters, etc. used to build the storage tanks and catchment system.
All the labor was volunteer work organized by the local PTAs.
Both little towns now have access to potable drinking water from aqueducts.
In those days, they depended on the rain and creek water, and the creeks were drying up every year, thanks to all the deforestation.
I visited the little town of El Rubio 20 years later and by pure luck ran into the old school principal in the street. He wanted to be sure that I knew how valuable the water collected and stored at the school turned out to be about two years after we built it. A severe drought left the town desperate, but the water they captured and stored from the big school roof helped them get through it.
Apparently, it is just "leftist lunatic" stuff to try to assist the world's poorest people to have better health, better nutrition, better education, sustainable agriculture and forestry, and opportunities for some kind of better life.
The next generation of terrorists will find fewer volunteers in those places where USAID has created gratitude and respect for the United States.
If USAID continues to do this.
Meanwhile, how many children will die this week because of the Trumpian Elon Musk cluster**** at USAID?

So, we'll soon know if RFK Jr. will get his chance to "go wild on health" as Trump has nominated him to do.
It is unlikely that enough Republicans would dare challenge Trump, no matter how obviously UNQUALIFIED RFK Jr is for the cabinet post at HHS.
The world's richest man, now on his THIRD citizenship as a former Canadian and South Africaner, has cut off the flow of all USAID assistance to the world's poorest people.
Maybe they will reinstate some of it to selected programs. Maybe not.
Quite literally, people will die soon as a consequence of the aid cutoff.

I met many local professionals who were educated with USAID funding for vital roles in national development.
It is hard to put a price on it, but the United States investment through USAID bought us a whole lot of gratitude and respect.
Folks who might have been attracted by the Cuban revolution saw that life could improve in their nation with assistance from the Superpower of the West.

Yup! There is just TOO MUCH CORRUPTION at USAID to obey the law and disburse the funds that the legislative branch of government authorized.
"Sometimes you have to obey HIGHER laws." - Fawn Hall
Fawn Hall was Oliver North's secretary, testifying before congress during the Iran-Contra scandal hearings.
She offered this righteous justification for criminal behavior.
She had just finished explaining that Oliver North was SO COOL, he made just ONE PHONE CALL to San Salvador, and the right-wing "death squad" activity completely ceased for two entire weeks.
So, the first thing you do is cut off ALL FORIEGN AID immediately.
Then maybe you selectively restore some of the funding to the handful of programs that are not so thoroughly corrupt and infested with left wing lunatics that maybe they deserve that tiny fraction of 1% of the federal budget.
Who doesn't trust Elon Musk to have our best interests in mind?
--------------------------
What is USAID and why does Elon Musk think it should die?

Looks like RFK Jr WILL get confirmed as we see "meritocracy" implemented.
Who could be more qualified to "go wild on health"?
RFK Jr probably knows that "meth is bad", given his medical training.
I hope he sees it as somehow related to public health, so he can go "wild" on it.
Speaking of RFK Jr., SPOILER ALERT about his supposedly dead uncle!
As they prepare to release the JFK assassination files, they are sending up trial balloons to lower expectations.
Don't expect any new bombshells.
There IS some embarrassing stuff about how much the CIA really knew about Oswald, including his visit to the Soviet Embassy in Mexico City.
Maybe look for a bit of the "Mexican stuff" to come out around that. Maybe even revelations that he also visited Cuba's consulate in Mexico City in a similar failed effort to get another visa, and how this aroused Castro's curiosity about the lone wolf wacko who single handedly killed JFK.

"Meth is bad". That is quite the understatement!
Swan, I actually don't read many of your posts. Just enough to see that you are not one to bother discussing science with.
However, you DO make a lot of references to meth.
AND your writing doesn't necessarily display paranoid schizophrenia, but the "paranoid" part is irrefutable.
Deep state conspiracies, aliens, and super computers "they" won't tell you about.
I think it was 1971 when that issue of "Psychology Today" arrived for my mother. She had gone back to school to get a master's degree, and I was a seventh grader intensely curious about human sexuality and other aspects of psychology. I loved going through those Psychology Today journals.
But this one wasn't about sex at all.
Doing my best to paraphrase accurately:
Methamphetamine-induced psychosis is the closest thing to chemically triggered paranoid schizophrenia the psychiatrists were seeing.
As of 2025, you can find a LOT of good research and even treatment for it.
I'm looking directly at you, Swan.
That lunatic on the street yelling about the deep state alien conspiracy...
Maybe he was born with the predisposition for natural paranoid schizophrenia.
Maybe he is just some fool who got too heavy into the meth.
The manifestation of his symptoms are remarkably similar, whichever one it is.
And either way, there is treatment available.
Don't be afraid to ask.
Just tell them the truth about what you are experiencing.
They will know what to do. |
