If everyone, and mean almost everyone, stayed home for 2 weeks it would take a bite out of covid and i would hopefully buy us time for warm season to come in. Hopefully this is seasonal even though it's much more vicious.
Two weeks would give the infected time to get well and hopefully not be spreading it. Also, it would give the uninfected time to avoid the infected. There would be problems withing families but this solution would take a big bite out of the whole problem.

This is a suggestion for everybody except ITN and IBD. For them it is an order.

I bought a spare can opener in case my can opener breaks.

A lot of fancy financing being done by the Fed and the Treasury. Hopefully they know what they're doing, i'm sure they do.
It does sound like a lot of socialism but this is an emergency. I hope it goes away later.

My suggestion is that we take full advantage of the weakness of this year's rather lame flu season and get out more and enjoy the one life we have ... and/or be more productive.

There's something inherently wrong with a government playing the general gullibility to foment panic as justification for giving all government workers a two-week paid vacation.

If the US had panicked earlier we would have taken drastic measures earlier and we would have gotten on top of the virus earlier. Less lives would be lost in the long run.

If we would have panicked earlier, we would have far more greatly damaged the economy and had our children out of school for longer ... and it would have still been a lame flu season, i.e. much weaker than usual.

Why would we want to damage our economy just to join you in the gullibility rankings? Can we just write you down as an America-hater and be done with it?

It is actually quite a bit less vicious than other flus that the United States has experienced. Less people are dying from it.

This flu has taken far fewer lives than flu seasons in the recent past.

There is no "problem". We will get through this flu season and be just fine, just like any other flu season.

What "drastic measures" should we have taken? Why?

I'd say that we've already taken drastic measures... You know, like crashing the whole economy and stock market over a simple flu virus...

Isolation?? For a flu that normally is no worse than a common cold? That is milder than usual? You are fear mongering again.

You actually do have a really good average keepit I'm continually impressed. No joke. You're also right that you know you're making headway in exposing fraud when the those perpetrating it are so bothered by simple statements and questions not even directed at them. IBD even took time to photoshop something for you (I'm a bit jealous.

So this whole situation is horrible but as for this board it is the parallel scenario to climate change I've been wanting. As stated earlier I brought up vaccines a while back.

Now we have the double argument again, but with a different subject:
1 - You cannot know these things simply because experts are saying them (as part of a conspiracy)
2 - An anonymous denier on a board DOES know these things with nothing at all to back it up.

Now I would agree you shouldn't accept that any expert is infallible like the Pope. But you should tackle debunking a well qaulified argument with a well constructed rebuttal. Not just a 5 year olds "Nu uh, no it's not, cuz I said so"

We have two sides here:
Marc Lipsitch, head of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics at the Harvard, wrote:
"We have about 2.8 intensive-care beds per 10,000 adults in the U.S., and that was the number of critical cases in Wuhan on the highest day," link

gfm7175 wrote:
There is no "problem". We will get through this flu season and be just fine, just like any other flu season.

It's a very familiar refrain: There's nothing to see here, it's all a hoax, so called experts can be dismissed without a foundation for the argument.

Now someone may say hey, that Harvard guy is an idiot because I say so. But if you're in a car accident you'd go to the emergency room right? I mean doctors do know doctor stuff don't they? You wouldn't just drag your bleeding body back home.

It just seems that one the one hand ITN, IBD, and their followers insist that we shouldn't jump the gun and claim we know things when we don't. We need raw data and what not. Yet they comfortably make things up:

Into the Night wrote:
Isolation?? For a flu that normally is no worse than a common cold? That is milder than usual? You are fear mongering again.
Vs:
Marc Lipsitch wrote:There's a real danger of accelerating the epidemic if you have a large number of people together," link

Marc Lipsitch wrote:about 40% to 70% of the world's population could become infected with the virus, and of those, 1% will die.link

So ITN claims, without any data, reason or justification for the statement that Covid-19 is "milder than usual". "291,000 to 646,000 people die of the flu each year"
Marc claim of 1% of the low end of 40% of 7,000,000,000 people is 28 million people.
28,000,000 > 646,000

Marc Lipsitch and others are very candid about their lack of "omniscience".
"In a later tweet, Lipsitch revised his estimates downward, to 20% to 60% of adults" link
They are applying their expertise to the best of their ability.

Now someone might say hey hold on that lipstich guys numbers are moving around he's an idiot. An idiot might say that.

Our triumph over disease is one of the greatest accomplishments made with science. I don't think it's equivalent to the efforts with climate change, I don't know, time will tell. But it's an excellent parallel to compare and contrast with.
