I was just watching a podcast of Brian Greene and Eric Schmidt (of google). It was said that the cost of training gpt5 is billions of dollars, most of which goes to electric power. The thing is that ai requires much more energy than human intelligence requires. What these guys were discussing is incredibly profound in so many ways.

billions of dollars. That's a lot of co2 production!

This is an exaggeration.

keepit wrote: The thing is that ai requires much more energy than human intelligence requires.

Only because human intelligence doesn't require any electricity.

keepit wrote: What these guys were discussing is incredibly profound in so many ways.

It doesn't appear as though anything profound was discussed.

No amount of money represents any amount of CO2 production.

You're full of baloney, keepit. Too many false statements.

Re: gdp and co2 production
Google the gdp of the various counties of the world and google the c02. You'll see a linear correlation between the two. The developed countries have a different slope than the developed countries (more co2 per gdp dollars).

Re: the billions of dollars
There are various wide ranging estimates about the cost of ai training. It think Eric Schmidt's estimate was 250 million.

Re: the profound implications
Maybe you understand the implications later in your life.

Watch out for cult propaganda!

Google the various ledger entries of various businesses of the world and notice that there is no CO2 involved in any of them. Zero. No CO2.

keepit wrote: You'll see a linear correlation between the two.

You'll see a constant correlation between the two, i.e. ZERO

keepit wrote: The developed countries have a different slope than the developed countries (more co2 per gdp dollars).

The developed businesses have the exact same ZERO correlation as the small businesses.

keepit wrote: There are various wide ranging estimates about the cost of ai training.

There's universal agreement on the single best way to do it.

keepit wrote: It think Eric Schmidt's estimate was 250 million.

You don't have any idea what you're talking about, do you? Stop it with the baloney, keepit ... you're already full of baloney.

keepit wrote: Re: the profound implications Maybe you understand the implications later in your life. Watch out for cult propaganda!

I'm already aware of the implications of AI/ML. I know what it is and what it isn't. You, on the other hand, haven't the vaguest idea what you're even talking about.

You can dodge the question. I don't care. I'm just demonstrating your nature.
It's glaringly obvious.

You first.

keepit wrote: You can dodge the question. I don't care.

I know you don't care. You never listen to anything I teach you. You shouldn't expect me to keep on trying.

keepit wrote: I'm just demonstrating your nature. It's glaringly obvious.

... which is why you cannot articulate it.
