Hello everyone,
This is just a curiosity question. I know we can reduce our emissions and all that, but is there a manual way to reduce the global warming / climate change that has already happened. Can we manually remove CO2 from the atmosphere and maybe convert it into solid carbon to be stored somewhere and oxygen - is it feasible - is there any other way to do this - is it even worth considering?

Nobody has an inexpensive enough proposal at the moment, but of course it is worth doing research on.

Solid carbon is coal and crude oil.

It seems strange that you have to use coal and oil to store carbon.

If you send a large balloon in the air at the equator, filled with sulfur then you will be able to cool the earth disastrous.

Let deforested areas regrow. Can remove over 100 tons of carbon dioxide per acre.

Agree Brett. Regrowth. Trees store carbon in their trunks.

Prevention of deforestation is also a very cost effective way to prevent emissions of CO2. Here is a very cost effective project: http://www.rainforesttrust.org/acres-for-50cents/ . I note, as full disclosure, that I am a director of the Rainforest Trust and a substantial donor to this project. Naturally, I would encourage folks to join me in supporting this project. For the cost of a cup of coffee, you can prevent over 1000 tons of CO2 emissions via this project.

CDR methods refers to a number of technologies which reduce the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Among such technologies are bio-energy with carbon capture and storage, biochar, direct air capture, ocean fertilization and enhanced weathering.f we have put too much CO2 into the air, wouldn't it make sense to find ways to remove it again? Well, yes: it would. But sadly it isn't likely to be easy or cheap and, according to new research, it isn't an adequate "solution" to the problems of climate change.

Why bother? CO2 does not warm the Earth. It can't.

A balloon filled with sulfur isn't going to float.

Farmers plant forests every year.

Carbon dioxide does not need to be removed. It does not warm the Earth.

There is no problem with 'cilmate change'. You guys can't even define 'climate change'.
