Eight years is long enough to have learned the answers to some of the questions posed in GasGuzzler's very first post and thread.
The final sentence "My rant is not over..." was certainly true eight years ago when this was posted (December 2016)
But now, 3043 posts and eight years later, I get the impression that your rant really kind of IS over.

Seriously people, we've been told of doomsday for 35 years now and it ain't happening, and in that 35 years we've what, doubled? tripled? quadrupled? our GLOBAL fossil fuels usage.
A 10 day weather forecast for any given location is inaccurate at best. So for a 10 YEAR, 20 YEAR forecast, 30 YEAR forecast we are going to drastically change our lives? We willingly pay huge money for green products. We destroy beautiful landscape with wind turdbines. We voluntarily tax ourselves for using evil oil, one of the most natural products on earth. We are SO stupid, in fact, that we buy cars that have $5,000 batteries awith no real power, believing that they are so clean. Wow, I have learned so much in 8 years. Here's just a few highlights...
1. I've learned what heat is and how it flows by way of conduction, convection and radiation and how the SB law applies to all matter everywhere. I was stunned by how often the word heat is misused and abused by morons that claim to be educated.
2. I have learned that science is not ''the study of the natural world around us" as we were told in grade school. Science is a set of falsifiable theories, NONE of which are ever proven true. A theory is considered true until it is proven false.
3. Oil cannot come from dead dinosaurs, so I learned to stop using the false agenda driven term "fossil fuels". Hydrocarbons is the correct term for oil and gas and it seems quite rational that the earth is an oil producing machine.
4. I learned there is a HUGE difference between speculation and what we know. If it has not been observed, then it is speculation. Global warming and ice ages are two lovely examples of speculation.
5. After decades of believing the bullshit, I learned there is actually no way to measure the temperature of the earth. Satellites can't do it and not enough thermometers to even come close to an accurate measurement. Therefore, THERE IS NO "GLOBAL TEMPERATURE DATA".
6. I learned that climate is a lesbian. Climate is also a subjective term, meaning it is a definition based on one's OPINION, therefore, there is no "global climate" that could possibly change. Seems pretty rational to me!
7. I don't know why this stuck with me, but Into the Night gave me quite an education about freight trains, how they stretch, and the need for a centerline engine to calibrate and adjust the amount of stretch. Quite fascinating. Thanks ITN
8. Most importantly, I have learned the hard way that it is life threatening dangerous to read an IBdaMann post within 24 hours post surgery. You risk laughing so hard that stitches rip and you're right back in the hospital for same day emergency surgery. True story. I observed this!
There is so much more but I'm short on time. Special thanks to Into the Night, IBdaMann, and gfm7175 for being great teachers and sharing their knowledge. Perhaps of most importance is their willingness to define their terms and then articulate a position when asked to do so. Well done!

You forgot to mention that you learned that water evaporates ... and that when ocean water evaporates, all absorbed CO2 it carries is released back into the atmosphere, creating a cycle, not an accumulation.
You forgot to mention that you learned that not only do glaciers die, but that new ones form, creating a cycle, not a depletion. Who would have thought?
You forgot to mention that you learned that chemistry categories for chemicals are not, themselves, chemicals. For example, there is no noble gas "noble gas" and there is no bicarbonate "bicarbonate." |

DECEMBER 30, 2016 - An Epic Journey of Wisdom Acquisition
Oh my goodness, this story is just ADORABLE!
What a triumphant evolution of consciousness in the past eight years.
It has been a wild ride, with moments of great epiphanies.
That wonderful moment of connection to the universe, as the realization swept over that the SB law applies to all matter everywhere.
But the wisdom has also come with some growing pains and trauma.
To have been "stunned" by the misuse and abuse of the word "heat" by morons who claim to be educated.
Oh, I only wish there were something more you could do to get those morons to define their terms. Or at least stop using them. For damn sure stop ABUSING the word "heat".
Well, at least you are doing your part.
REFUSING to buy in to the propaganda and ever use the agenda driven term "fossil fuel" is very important thing to have learned to do.
After decades of believing that bullshit, you came to learn that there's just no good way to measure temperature. Therefore, there CAN'T possibly be any actual reliable data that could "prove" things are getting warmer.
And who needs temperature data, anyway? The SB law applies to all matter everywhere. It is not even theoretically possible for temperatures to have increased, even if you COULD measure it. Warming due to anthropogenic greenhouse gases is not physically possible.
And warming WHAT? Warming the "climate"? Changing the "climate"? The morons use "climate" as an undefined buzzword to mean anything they want to pretend it means. The proof of their shameless dishonesty and utter cowardice in the face of the truth is their REFUSAL to unambiguously define the term "climate". "Climate" may as well be a lesbian. It has become such a meaningless term, there is no point even talking about it.
Well, I look forward to celebrating the eight year anniversary of your joining the discussion here at climate-debate.com

"Fact: The earth has warmed and cooled in cycles since it's beginning. Fact: The earth is warming right now." - GasGuzzler (December 30, 2016)
GasGuzzler made these two assertions of FACT in his second post, 8 years ago.
If I had begun a statement of my own with these two facts, which I know to be perfectly correct, I would have followed with a third fact, unique to our time.
Fact: The current warming is NOT consistent historic glacial cycles, during which the temperature rise did NOT accelerate, rather than slow down, as the cycle shifted back to glacial build up and sea level decline.
In the history of glaciation, this is WIERD.
But humans threw a wild card into the mix. We did so many things that caused the concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere to increase, it shifted the pattern of the glacial cycle.
The 21st century should have begun a natural "cooling trend". It didn't happen.
And the "cooling trend" isn't GOING to happen for centuries if this continues.
To the contrary, unless atmospheric chemistry returns to something resembling "normal", it is going to keep getting warmer for centuries.
My compliments to GasGuzzler for having the courage to honestly assert that, "The earth is warming right now" in such a hostile environment.
Oh, and we're just a few days away from the EIGHT YEAR ANNIVERSARY of GasGuzzler joining the discussion!

I'm guessing the cavemen were running their SUV's way too much in all that snow and ice and eventually warmed the planet up enough to come out of that ice age.
Seriously people, we've been told of doomsday for 35 years now and it ain't happening, and in that 35 years we've what, doubled? tripled? quadrupled? our GLOBAL fossil fuels usage.

Also, there really is no such thing as "historic glacial cycles" which imply that of the written record. We don't have anything resembling a complete log of all glaciers that existed throughtout the history of humanity.
Im a BM wrote: ... during which the temperature rise did NOT accelerate, Wake up! Snap out of it. Im a BM wrote: But humans threw a wild card into the mix. Quoting from the Book of Human Activity 2: 3-11
3 And the whole earth was of one temperature, and of one climate.
4 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the center of Ground Zero; and they dwelt there.
5 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make fuels, and burn them thoroughly. And they had propane for heat, and oil had they for electricity.
6 And they said, Go to, let us build us a mighty carbon footprint, whose feedbacks may reach beyond the troposphere; and let us make us combustion engines, lest we be without wind or solar or hydro upon the face of the whole earth.
7 And the conservatives came down to gaze upon all the human activity, in which the children of men engaged.
8 And Climate said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
9 Go to, let us go down, and there and mandate electric vehicles, and compel them to use wind and solar, that they may not have the power of capitalism.
10 So the Climate increased the level of the sea, and bleached the Dominican corals, and stripped the ocean of alkalinity, and the heavens of its ozone at night, and brought greater warmth from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build oil platforms.
11 Therefore is the name of it called ANWAR; because conservatives did there rape Climate of all the earth: and from thence did Climate scatter emissions abroad upon the face of all the earth.

P3 won't muster the courage to finally visit us for centuries if we don't recall all our orbiting technology.

"Life is acidic." - IBdaMann
This is another biological science fact that they won't tell you in any of the so-called "textbooks".
"Life" has pH below 7.
Is my body even ALIVE?
The inside of my stomach is VERY MUCH alive. Strongly acidic.
The outside of my skin is at least somewhat alive and slightly acidic.
What about all the rest of my tissues and bodily fluids?
Virtually ALL of them have pH greater than 7.
How can I possibly be alive if "life is acidic"?
Wait, I think I know what happened.
"Alkaline environments are hostile to life and require special adaptations to survive." - IBdaMann
My body must have a whole lot of "special adaptations" for everything besides my skin and stomach to survive.
Somehow evolution allowed my STOMACH to generate acid to fix the problem.
Perhaps there will be some mutant in the future that injects stomach acid into the alkaline blood or lymph fluid, making it easier to survive in the hostile environment.
You know, plants have the same problem.
All kinds of special adaptations for the alkaline conditions they create inside of most of their tissues, etc.
But "Life is acidic", isn't it?
What the eff is that supposed to even MEAN?
"It is not possible to measure the pH of life" might be one rebuttal.
Is LIFE a CHEMICAL?
Is THAT why "life is acidic"?
If life is NOT a chemical, how can it be "acidic" when it is just a buzzword?

On the other hand, your post is vague, but suggests you might agree with the assertion that "life is acidic."
Is life acidic, Into the Night? You know so much more about pH than I do.
"Go learn what an acid is." - Into the Night
Deja vu. Been discussing this since March 2022.
As I attempted to explain then and many times since.
What an acid is... It can donate a PROTON in chemical reactions. A proton, being the term chemists most often use to refer to the HYDROGEN ION.
And for those who never took high school chemistry, a HYDROGEN ION is not the same as just saying "hydrogen", because "hydrogen is not a proton". (repeat 30 more times, hydrogen is not a proton). Hydrogen ION is a proton.
Something that ITN vehemently denied until later settling on the "hydrogen is not a proton" evasion.
Because science is just a word game, and NOT a chemical.

Apparently, Google could be trusted to provide a credible answer.
So...
Google "pH of human body"
Says Google, "The pH of the human body is typically considered to be between 7.35 and 7.45"
Oh my goodness! It is ALKALINE. And if it were just one pH unit higher, it would be what IBdaMann calls "very alkaline", like sea water.
I'd be curious to know which TISSUES IBdaMann believes are ACIDIC, other than the lining of the stomach and the sweat gland output.
He must have studied biology at a better school than I did.

I thought that blood and lymphatic fluid accounted for nearly all volume of bodily fluids, and they are both ALKALINE.
He must have studied biology at a better school than I did.
Because HE knows that "Life is acidic". And ME? I don't even know what that is supposed to MEAN.
I'm so envious because he knows all this science that I can't even understand.
He knows why it is thermodynamically impossible for light gases such as hydrogen and helium to leave the atmosphere and float off into outer space. All I can find are a bunch of LIES trying to calculate HOW MUCH hydrogen and helium leave the atmosphere to outer space.
He knows why it is chemically impossible for atmospheric carbon dioxide to cause ocean acidification. All I was taught were a bunch of LIES about the pH buffering of the carbonate system.
He understands the chemistry that makes pure water such an excellent pH buffer. I was just taught the LIE that water has virtually NO pH buffering capacity, and even just contact with atmospheric carbon dioxide would bring the pH of water down to about pH = 5.6, as carbonic acid forms.
He understands physics like NOBODY else. Debunks the LIES about so-called greenhouse gases having any properties that influence steady state temperature.
Talk about your EARTH SCIENCE expert, IBdaMann knows WHY the whole glacial cycle/sea level rise and fall thing is a big LIE. Geologists could learn a lot from him about how petroleum REALLY forms - NOT from any dead ancient organisms. Coal as well, he knows why it couldn't POSSIBLY have formed from the organic matter accumulated in ancient swamplands.
Man, I wish I were as smart as he is.
I wish he would at least tell me WHERE I could learn some of this stuff. I know I'm not allowed to use dictionaries or textbooks for definitions, but he won't tell me where ELSE to find them.
Somewhere there is a secret Bible of Falsifiable Theories.
I wish I knew where I could find it, and I can't get anyone to tell me.
If I had it, I could at least TRY to understand why climate change is impossible.

HAPPY EIGHT YEAR ANNIVERSARY, GASGUZZLER!
Eight years at climate-debate.com!

Hello all, I'm new here. I just have one question I would like answered. 10,000 years ago wasn't there some sort of Ice age? The question I need answered is this....How did we get out of that ice age? Must have been some sort of global warming.
We are trying to give up liberties to the gov to regulate our energy usage IN OUR OWN HOMES!! We are SO stupid, in fact, that we buy cars that have $5,000 batteries awith no real power, believing that they are so clean. At night we plug in these batteries to charge them with electricity CREATED BY BURNING FOSSIL FUELS!!! and...on and on and on......
My rant is not over, I'm just tired and need to get some sleep before a big work day burning a LOT of fuel tomorrow. |

Ah, shucks!
Because I just asked Google "are ions called chemicals?"
According to the gullible Marxist warmazombies who pull the strings behind the scenes at Google:
"Yes, ions are considered chemicals." (Google et al, 2024)
If that were not just a BLATENT LIE, it would mean that carbonate ion IS a chemical.
If it were a "chemical", we could at least use the term as part of discussion.
But it is not, so we can not.
Because if it is NOT a "chemical" it is most likely a "buzzword" that DOESN'T EVEN EXIST.
I DO believe in carbonate ions. I DO believe in carbonate ions. I DO believe in carbonate ions. I DO believe in carbonate ions. I DO believe in carbonate ions.
Who am I trying to fool? Other than myself, that it. |

One again Into the Night tells us only what is NOT a chemical.
What IS a chemical?
There must be some kind of definition you could offer besides "RQAA".

The more you insist that the carbonate ion is "not a chemical", the more you prove that you don't even know what a chemical IS.
The more you insist that carbonate ions can't possibly buffer against pH change upon addition of acid, the more you prove that you can't POSSIBLY be a chemist.
The more you insist that WATER ITSELF is the big buffer of the sea, because "Dilution is buffering, moron", the more you prove that YOU are a moron. |

I have NO IDEA where the Internet finds these SCIENTIFICALLY ILLITERATE MORONS to publish BOGUS definitions for scientific terms.
Sulfate "reduction", for example. So many LIES about "sulfate reduction", which Into the Night has SO CLEARLY EXPLAINED, hundreds of times:
"Sulfate cannot be reduced." - Into the Night (a CHEMIST!)
To prove that I worship more gods than just Google, I'll take one of those FAKE "definitions" from WIKIPEDIA (boo! hiss!)
Question transmitted via Google: "what are sulfate reducing bacteria?"
Answer from WIKIPEDIA:
"Sulfate reducing microorganisms (SRM) or sulfate reducing prokaryotes (SRP) are a group composed of sulfate reducing bacteria (SR and sulfate reducing archaea (SRA), both of which can perform anaerobic respiration utilizing sulfate SO4(2-) as terminal electron acceptor, reducing it to hydrogen sulfide H2S."
Wikipedia must be part of that vast conspiracy of Marxist warmazombies.
It refers to "sulfate" is if it were some kind of CHEMICAL. (Boo! hiss!)
It strongly implies that sulfate CAN be reduced. (BLASPHEMY!)
It seems to indicate that some kind of oxidation reduction reaction can occur in the absence of oxygen, during which a microorganism reduces sulfate in order to oxidize organic carbon.
Note:
Biologists used to have just one big KINGDOM of organisms they called "bacteria"
Now they distinguish TWO different KINGDOMS of organisms, radically different kinds of "bacteria".
Archaea bacteria are survivors of the OLDEST line of organisms on earth.
Rock evidence clearly shows sulfate reducing archaea bacteria already on the scene doing their thing at LEAST 3500 million years ago.
Newer lines of sulfate reducing bacteria compete with them now.
Too bad that the Wikipedia blurb didn't mention the inorganic carbon PRODUCT of anaerobic respiration, because it is of major significance to the discussion.
Sulfate reduction allows organisms to acquire energy from the oxidation of organic carbon in the absence of oxygen, and the inorganic (oxidized) carbon product is NOT carbon dioxide, but rather carbonate or bicarbonate.
Just think how FAR REACHING the conspiracy has to be to pull this off.
The Marxist warmazombies are just flooding the zone with FAKE science about so called "greenhouse gases" and "climate change".
They have some sinister agenda to push the anti chemistry propaganda about so-called "sulfate reduction".
Still can't figure out who is enhancing their wealth or power this way, but they have a lot of bribe money to spread around to get all the textbooks, dictionaries, and so-called "scientists" on board to push the BIG LIE of this "sulfate reduction" hoax |
