By using food concentrates and food powders, one can reduce pollution associated with storage, transportation, and shelf-life. Amazon seem to have realised this in part, because they have a sustainability certification for some of their products known as "compact by design", that implements these ideas in part. With less weight and less volume, there are less emissions for transportation, and in a connected way also for storage. Also, food powders and concentrates can have longer shelf lives, that can result in less waste (for example, rather than throwing-out excess vegetable crops, they can be freeze-dried to preserve them).

Examples of food concentrates and food powders:
- using spice mixes and powdered sauces, instead of sauces already bulked up with water
- using drink powders and concentrates
- flavouring water with concentrate food flavourings, to make flavoured drinks
- using dried vegetables and fruit (perhaps freeze-dried or sun-dried)
- powdered soup

All comments welcomed.

Define this 'pollution'. What is it, and what is it polluting?
