It looks like he mistook correlation with causation.
To a lay man like him, the trick of correlation and causation can be difficult. It is, after all, the very first lesson in statistics.

It seems that past CO2 level and temperature did not correlate at all. It seems that CO2 does not affect temperature because it is saturated.

There is no such thing as "saturation" in this context.

Only when temperature gets so high that electrons are ripped from the protons, i.e.plasma is created, is there any sort of issue with "too much" energy affecting outcome.
