I saw this on the weather channel which usually doesn't report climate change https://weather.com/news/news/2019-06-17-arctic-ice-melt-record |

I think that when the include "near record breaking...", should make it obvious, that it't not that unusual, was hotter a least once in the past 40 years or so. Obviously, even if the hot summer melting trend continues, it's not going to cause any major harm or concern, as demonstrated in the past. They said 2012 was a major melting year, yet all that ice returned, and the seas didn't rise 50 feet, or whatever Al Gore predicted in his movie. Guess he'll be filming a sequel this summer... Over-hyped, normal weather patterns. |

It is not only overhyping the usual summer melt, it completely ignores the 2019 winter ice extent, which was greater than the 2018 ice extent for the Arctic, as recorded by the Snow and Ice Data Center. In 2012 the Arctic winter ice extent was quite small. In 2014 the Antarctic winter ice extent was the largest ever recorded. Meh.
