As stated by Science Direct, AI robots are trained (which is quite different than programmed).

With that said, Into the Night is correct that AI is a concrete science that you can learn at any university or community college. It seems that humans still cannot define intelligence but have nonetheless spent decades discovering and refining ways to get the needed/desired results thereof.

The net result is the refinement of the knowledge base from which the decisions are made that ultimately simulate intelligence. Refinement means "adding to", "deleting from", and simply altering elements in the knowledge base.

Three major categories for AI are 1) pattern recogniztion, 2) error/fault anticipation and, combining those two, 3) forensic analysis + anomaly warnings through establishing baseline behavior, continuous monitoring, and using network activity to inform the machine learning process.
