What did we learn from Democrat debates last night (Wednesday, the 1st ten)?

It was not a debate. The term "debate" was a complete misnomer. The candidates did not make much of an attempt to distingush themselves from each other. It was one big agreement-fest on the core planks of the Democrat Party. The candidates used last night's platform to market themselves as the most "Democrat Party" person of all candidates.

One thing that stood out is the amazing amount of time Elizabeth Warren was given. She was given more opportunities to speak, given more questions (to include receiving the very first question and then her second question came after only three other candidates got to speak) and time limits were ignored for her if she wasn't finished; others were cut off, especially John Delaney when he started to mention that the topics being discussed were not of the issues of concern for the American people. My conclusion is that the Democrat Presidential candidacy pool has already been narrowed by the DNC and that Faux-cahontas is one of them ... along with one or more who will appear tonight. In fact, I found it extremely conspicuous that Warren was singled out and asked if she had a plan for dealing with Mitch McConnel ... to which she responded that she did and delivered a prepared stump speech about democracy and the struggle of American workers ... and when she was finished, the moderators then opened it up for general comments from the others. And, of course, she got the last word; her closing statement closed out the event. She went first, went for frequently and went last.

Oh, and Warren was positioned in the exact center, just as Biden will be tonight.

All ten candidats are pretty clear / in agreement on the following points:

Trump is "wrong."
Corporations are victimizing Americans by "profiteering."
The economy isn't working for everyday Americans while Trump gloats.
Oil companies are shameful with their profits and their outrageous executive pay.
Trump is "wrong."
Free, government-funded abortions and contraceptives is healthcare justice.
It's heartbreaking how we kill immigrants trying to come to America and how we cage separated children in border concentration camps ... and in our communities.
Immigrants didn't cause our immigration crisis, corporations and the 1% did.
We need to repeal the criminality of coming to America; immigrants are America.
Trump is just so "wrong."
We are apparently at the brink of war with Iran ... because of Trump's recklessness.
Guns = bad = weapons of war, the Federal government must do something, everybody is dying. It's not "confiscation" if the government is offering to buy them back.
Police are mostly racist and we need a new relationship between our police and our communities.
Climate Change is a crisis and Florida is in imminent danger, and could be under water within our lifetime. We need to rejoin the Paris Accord and tax carbon.
The biggest threat/challenges to the US are China, Climate Change, Iran, nuclear war and Donald Trump.

They disagree somewhat to the following extent:

Beto insisted on opening his responses in horrific Spanish ... I mean it was PAINFUL listening to each instance ... but not as utterly torturous as when Booker tried to vomit out a response in Spanish. I started to beg for death. The Telemundo moderator humored Beto by asking him a couple of questions in Spanish.

Two candidates (Warren and DeBlasio) would outright eliminate any and all private healthcare options, leaving Americans completely dependent upon the government under the justification that the "solution" has to work and has to work equally for everyone. The other eight candidates won't eliminate private options because they just want to ensure everyone has healthcare and they don't think you can accomplish that by "taking away."

Booker will bring criminal charges against all big pharmaceutical companies because they are "clearly responsible" for our opioid epidemic, whereas Beto would simply fine the pharmaceutical companies to pay for the rehabilitation of those incarcerated for drug-related offenses. The others didn't really go after "Big Pharma" beyond them needing to be punished for being evil corporations.

They all differed on specifically what they would do on Day-1 of being President with regard to how they would legally usher immigrants into the USA and get them on a path to citizenship.

Castro blames section 13 for our xenophobia-induced immigrant witch-hunt.

Booker insists we don't talk enough about African-American Trans individuals.

Castro believes hispanics are the big victims of American brutalization whereas Booker believes African-Americans are the big victims.

Ever notice how the all ignore the difference between legal, and illegal immigrants. The ones who go the legal route are punished with longer waits, to accommodate the illegals, who squeeze in through asylum claims. The current 100k/per month border rush, is the blame of both parties, mostly the democrats though. Trump wants to close and control the borders, so it sort of encourages more to make the attempt, before it gets considerably more difficult and dangerous. The democrats are to blame for slowing Trump's progress on securing the border, but they also take the blame for attracting so many, with all the free stuff, a gentle handling, expedited citizenship.

The democratic debates aren't going to produce much at first, too many, and they all pretty much agree on most everything, just a few minor details on how to achieve the same goal. Tonight will likely be more of the same, mostly they'll stay on script. The two old guys, probably will slip up quite a bit, Biden mostly, too busy fighting the urges to put his hands on people. Bernie will likely get sidetracked on his socialism agenda, trouble staying on topic. Probably won't be until a few months before the primaries, before the herd thins down enough, and start getting nasty with each other, in desperation. Think most of them are going to wait for Trump to do the heavy lifting for them. They all agree that Trump is the mean, bad guy, and they can use that, since they have little else. The House investigations are losing steam, and with Mueller testifying next month, they know if they can't get anything to justify further investigations, they'll have to let it go.

Police are Racist? The aren't all white, but then again, you don't have to be white, to be a racist either. Police shoot a lot of people, most of the time it's justified, without question. Their use of force, isn't really up to an ideal level. They are force to take a lot of crap, and have to wait until there is a physical threat. Non compliance should be justification enough. Fleeing the scene of a crime, should still be a shooting offense, admission of guilt, either in that crime, or something more serious. People don't seem to understand that the vast majority of criminals don't get caught the first time, many have been doing the same or similar for years, and getting away with it. Even those arrested and charged, don't stay in jail long, if even convicted. Not Guilty, doesn't mean they didn't do it anymore, just legal it wasn't proven, or the courts DA declined to go forward, courts too busy, not an easy conviction, election year...

Democrats all agree we need more free stuff, but no real good way to pay for any of it, longterm. Same tired promises, to buy votes from the lazy, but none of that crap will ever happen. Medicare for everyone? Free health care will just encourage more people to rush to the emergency rooms for band aids, they could have applied themselves, or any bump, bruise, ache or pain, that would go away in a day or two anyway. Free heath care, also means free prescription medications, recreational drugs for many already. Which means your kids can score more often by raiding medicine cabinets. The government is only going to pay doctors and hospitals a set amount, and congress will only approve rate increases (not likely). Doctors and hospitals will still get sued for everything, and pay higher malpractice insurance, no way to adjust or compensate, just not worth keeping the doors open. VA hospitals a great example of 'Free' health care, long waiting time, most give top-notch treatment though, if you can last long enough to get in. And these are veterans, people that voluntarily signed up, to defend our country, put their lives on the line, to keep the war outside our borders. I'm grateful, we don't see daily suicide-bomber attacks here, and hope we never do. Our veterans should be able to get treated anywhere the choose, when they need it most, not in a few months or a year. Doctors and hospitals should be proud to treat them, and accept what the government is willing to pay them. Seniors on Medicare, often need supplemental insurance, since the health care isn't entirely free. Insurance is big business, wouldn't wiping out an entire profitable industry have a huge negative impact on the economy?

Much of Florida underwater, in our lifetime? It use to be mostly swamp anyway, until Walt Disney bought up a bunch of it cheap, and showed a lot of other people how to make it pay off. Not much swamp land left, outside of the 'protected', government owned areas, or undeveloped parts. Ice has been melting for centuries, and we still have historic, century old, beach front constructions still standing, and in use. Even with storm surge, they don't get flooded too badly. If there was anything to the rising sea level crap, we would have noticed by now. The only thing we see is normal, natural beach erosion. Maybe some of the new immigrants, or tourists get to see it, before it's replaced every year or two. A little disappoint, since it doesn't look anything like the expected when they bought their vacation package. Never ceases to amaze me, how people expect everything to be the same as in the pictures, but turn out to be considerably less, yet they still fall for it. I'll never understand the appeal of cruise ships...

I wish I had seen this when I first created this thread; it sums it all up:

Here's a good review of the first non-debate.
