When an individual with a gambling problem says "I'm glad I have all this money to play with" then that's the gambling problem speaking, not the individual.

You could have walked away with a gain of $50 ... just as if someone wanted to gift you a $50 bill ... but you turned up your nose at it, preferring instead to lose $11,000+ under the justification that you are somehow compelled to "play" with it.

After all, you spoke with a woman once.

So, assuming you bought at $43.38 (as you mentioned in this thread), if you were to hypothetically discover that Solana price jumped to $47.30, would you then pull another Xadoman and simply claim that you are "resetting" your sell price as an excuse to simply "let it ride" as your compulsion demands?

You are very welcome.

Instead of taking the easy route and fighting some old, weak and defenseless man inside you, you should direct your efforts to fighting your gambling addiction. You could get out of Solana right now and break even ... and then take that money and invest it in a legitimate investment.

Current Solana Price: $44.01

Sure.

Remember, gold, silver and other precious metals (and precious gems) are important elements in a well-rounded portfolio, and should be viewed collectively as a hedge, not as a principle investment. They are otherwise high-risk gambling.

As a hedge, precious metals and precious gems increase the security and stability of your overall portfolio by moving opposite of currencies and the economy in general. If the economy turns sour and your portfolio begins to suffer, the precious metals will do very well and bolster your portfolio as a counterbalance. Of course, when precious metals/gems begin to drop, that is a sign that the economy is doing well and your principal portfolio will grow on its own.

So it is a good thing that you bought gold ... and gold is definitely something you should HODL.

Well done.

If we calculate the price basis split-adjusted technique, the value of a single Apple stock has risen by at least 144,900 percent from the day of the IPO in 1980 to 27 August, 2021.

You made a good call. If you had fallen for the Solana "teaser" feint upwards in price, expecting to cash out with an $800 profit, you would have been looking at a $3,000 loss at the moment with Solana sitting at $34.08 with a 24-hr high of $36.98

Yeah, Apple has done good, but after Steve Jobs passed, there hasn't been a lot of new developments/improvements. Meanwhile, everyone else has caught up, even passing them on innovations. Mostly it's price/status-symbol keeping them on top. With the socialist on a rapid rise across the globe, inflation, slow economy, high taxes, people are going to go more for function, over the status symbol crap. We are also going to see some new growth and innovations in technology, as the green-energy crap takes hold. Alternative energy sucks, and there is going to be a strong drive to mitigate all the shortcomings. It'll spill over to most everything else. Don't think Apple is going to step up. As they already just depend on their customer-base, and status, rather than providing new, better products. Have to do better than new color options, different case, 'upgraded' cameras. Their desktops and laptops are about the same, few cosmetic changes, useless additions to the software...

What's going to change most, is ultra low power devices becoming more common. The electrical grid needs a huge upgrade, and it's not going to happen over a few weeks. The work is going to take years, if it ever gets started at all. We most likely are going to get patchwork, and frequent blackouts. Most people are use to unlimited electricity to their house, just have to pay the monthly bill. Most will look to keep their bill within a budget, but know they can use more, if they have to. When people have to rely on battery storage or generators, there are limits. Both are limited by how much you can use at one time. Batteries drain, and that's all you get, until they recharge. Instead of budgeting money, you have to be seriously aware of usage, and capacity. Of course, the rich will just buy bigger, to cover their usage. Likely be able to get on a less blackout prone circuit. People living in apartments, are totally screwed...

Apple caters mostly to the rich. But, most everyone else is going to need to use the most energy efficient devices.

Never liked Apple products, or their business model. Bunch of control freaks... I like to upgrade/modify my computer equipment, as I see fit. I bought it, I own it, and can do what I want. Apple put a lot of effort into discouraging that. They wanted you to only use their products, as sold, with their approved software. You need improvements, you buy a better machine from them. I like doing my own repairs, which usually costs less, than the fee a technician charges, just to look at it, and tell me what I already know needs replaced.

RE: Out with the Old, In with the New24-08-2022 06:17

First the "Out with the Old."

We first heard about Safemoon a bit over a year ago on 05-April-2021 when Xadoman wrote:

Xadoman wrote:I have seen what is going on in the cryptomarket and this is completely insane how some of the coins could rise 1000x in a month. Imagine putting 12000 into safemoon 3 weeks ago. I would be a millionaire today.

It's difficult to understand what Xadoman is talking about since Safemoon coughed up a zero that day and reached a 24-hr low of $0.00000094, however it did reach a 24-hr high of $0.00000137, so Xadoman must have once again been speaking within the context of his ongoing misunderstanding that crypto is somehow an "investment," that the game is totally fair and not rigged, and that one can count on being lucky and timing the market just right for optimized profits.

Above, Xadoman mentions imagining having been one of the insiders who was able to get in on the low offering price to "pump" the price for dumping onto the public three weeks before Safemoon was available to the public. Since Xadoman was unable to be an insider who pumped-n-dumped, he opted to be one of the public upon whom the pumped tokens were dumped.

Anyway, if Xadoman had pulled his money three weeks after his purchase, he would have walked away with 8x his original purchase. Of course, he did not, because he is not willing to pull his money unless he has made 1000x his purchase. Hence he ended up losing all profits and 90% of his original purchase.

Fast forward to today. Safemoon has long since been abandoned. It's price has dropped from its "start the year" price on 1 JAN 2022 of $0.000002809 (five zeroes after the decimal) to its current price of $0.0000001148 (six zeroes after the decimal), poised to cough up another zero any day now.

So now we can tell Xadoman that if we imagine putting $12,000 into Safemoon on the day he did, we'd be imagining a Safemoon wallet today bulging with $1,005.55 worth of tokens that we wouldn't be able to cash-out without stiff penalties.

I think we can close out Safemoon now and focus on Solana.

------------

Now "In with the New."

We first heard about Solana on 24 July 2022 when Xadoman wrote:

Xadoman wrote:Yes, it is a time to buy. You can make 3-4x with Bitcoin and Ethereum if you want to play it safe. Solana could make 10x.

On that particular day, Solana opened at $40.04 and climbed to $42.02

Fast forward to today, one month later. Solana's price is $34.63 and we're watching.

But they cannot "sale" to any investor because the exchange rate are fixed based on the top 3 most highest value on the market !

Xadoman, you've got to get in on this crypto. It could go 4000x! Why waste your money on stocks or Bitcoin and only get maybe 3x? It's crazy how some of these cryptos like this one are set to make 500x in just a couple of days!

So, what "made it" car are you going to get when MidMessFar's new digital currency ends world conflict and returns 50,000x?

I envy you ... and duncan ... for being bold enough to make that kind of life-changing money on this world-changing crypto. Let me be the first to congratulate you both. The rest of us could learn a lot from the two of you, and that's a fact.

Current Solana Price: $31.17

For you to make 10x, Solana will have to far exceed its all-time high of $260.06 and reach beyond $311.70

What is more likely to happen within your lifetime or before November rolls around (whichever comes first): Solana price exceeds $311.70 ... or Solana price drops below $29.00?

duncan, would you care to speculate?

Perhaps a momentary setback. Nonetheless, I recommend you just get out now.

It's only inching downward. Now is a great time to get out.

Because it is one of the top coins. Its ATH was 259.

Wasn't that in the past? Aren't you supposed to be speculating about the future price?

I'll speculate.

Around mid-June, Solana's price dropped below $29.00 for a few days. That happened within the last three months.

Solana's price has never exceeded $260.06 before, let alone ever reached $311.70, and it has not exceeded $200.00 since the beginning of December 2021 (roughly 9 months ago) nor has ever exceeded even $100.00 since the April 24th of this year (roughly 4 months ago).

Thus, given that (and it's downward trajectory over the last year, and even the last three months) I speculate that it is much more likely that Solana's price drops below $29.00 than it is for its price to exceed $311.70 ... let me know if I'm missing something...

I'll speculate that the inherent worthlessness of Solana's vapor-tokens will continue to whittle down the asking price of the only people who afford any value to Solana, i.e. other Solana holders who cling to the delusion that the imaginary tokens are "coins".

Meanwhile, back in the real world, nobody accepts Solana as payment for goods and services, ergo demand = 0, ergo actual value = $0 outside of the community of current holders, and that will only wear the price downward long term.

Current Solana Price: $31.76

duncan, did you sell yet or are you still in, clinging to hope that Solana will rise from the ashes?

Good move, duncan! Solana took its time and got spun around a bit but it looks like it has found its bearings and is on the up

Current Solana Price: $32.43

Solana is poised to moon. Don't get all tempted to cash out too early.
