The role consists of the following activities:

Business development (45%): Initiate and develop business opportunities for Carbon Trust in Mexico that involve both carbon saving and revenue generation, in line with the business strategy for the Carbon Trust in Mexico. Throughout the year, pre-position, research, champion, write, manage and/or participate in client proposals, leveraging and working collaboratively with Carbon Trust experts from other offices – tying in with any broader business development initiatives.

Management (30%): Provide direction and leadership for Carbon Trust Mexico initiatives and projects and help ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations. Line-manage the Carbon Trust team in Mexico. Work collaboratively with the rest of the Group and draw on/engage resources from other Carbon Trust offices as needed. Monitor client satisfaction.

Representation (10%): Provide speeches, presentations and media interviews that explain what Carbon Trust does and market our work to Mexican organisations. Model Carbon Trust values when engaging with other organisations.

Strategy and reporting (5%): Suggest and agree strategy for the Carbon Trust in Mexico and provide input to the wider international strategy of the Carbon Trust. Provide regular reporting to London on direction and activity. Strategy will be signed-off by the Carbon Trust Board.

Learning (5%): Monitor the development of low carbon policy and technologies in Mexico and provide information to the London Office on the local situation and market potential. Keep up-to-date with activity and relevant initiatives across the rest of the Carbon Trust.

Admin and compliance (5%): Ensure that the Office and team complies with the relevant accounting and legal regulations. Lead on health, safety and environment of all Carbon Trust Mexico activity and employees. Ensure that Carbon Trust policies including procurement, bribery and personal conduct are followed.

Qualification and experience

Proven team leadership skills
Excellent business development skills, including an ability to engage effectively with customers and senior stakeholders, as well as to craft successful business propositions.
Collaborative approach to conducting work – a team player, who is responsive, reliable and consistently meets deadlines
Excellent understanding of the Carbon Trust's mission and activities
A strong understanding of the public-private interface
Broad knowledge of low carbon policy and technology
Strong problem solving skills.
Required:

Experience team leadership and line management
Experience of working in Mexico at a senior level
Good relevant networks in government and business in Mexico
Demonstrated proficiency in business development, including a strong track record of developing successful business proposals and winning clients in the low carbon space
Demonstrated experience in problem solving and management consulting
Experience of communicating effectively in writing and speech at Director level in business and with senior government officials
Good knowledge of low carbon policies and technologies
Experience of running projects and, managing finance and budgets
Experience of contract negotiation and management
Degree educated (at least 2:1 or equivalent)
Fluent in Spanish and English
Experience of working for a UK or European-based organisation would be an advantage.
