Imagine the future where ai is running rampant and people are reaping the benefits. Then imagine not have enough electricity to run all the ai. Then imagine the population shrinking. Imagine not having enough qualified people to maintain the ai. At this point people can't take care of themselves and can't even maintain the ai. Not so good.
Maybe this qualifies as fear mongering.

I'll need some help imagining a scenario in which software is "running rampant". What does that even mean?

keepit wrote: Then imagine not have enough electricity to run all the ai.

Do you mean to say that there isn't enough electricity for the software to "run rampant" as you say?

Here's my problem: I am asked to imagine a scenario or rampant-running software that isn't able to run rampant, when I don't even know what is meant by "software running rampant"?

keepit wrote: Then imagine the population shrinking.

The human population? In the Sahara?

keepit wrote: Imagine not having enough qualified people to maintain the ai.

We already have insufficient people to maintain the software that we have. Inadequate software maintenance will kill software rampant-running, and will even prevent it from operating properly.

Why would people cease to be able to take care of themselves?

Imagine a world where keepit posts identical verbage 5 times. Does it actually increase the number of posts?

Imagine a world in which keepit runs rampant after acquiring sentience. Yes, sentience, ... just roll with me on this.

Imagine he learns of the words "addition," "treasuries," and debt, and begins to use bandwidth to print out error messages warning us that there's too much baloney because the printing of dollars doesn't increase the number of dollars when liabilities are assets.

Question: Are those missing dollars tucked away in hidden dimensions? Maybe keepit's artificial intelligence will let us know the next time he runs rampant ...

... whatever that means.

I'm trying to roll but it's a bit of a square ball. I was following intently right up to the sentence with keepit and sentience in the same phrase. That's where you left me in the dust. You should be careful here, you could lose scientific credibility.

OK, full stop. I'm going to ask you to dumb it down for us.
Of which scientific sentience discipline are you referring?
A.) general cognitive abilities
B.) a more prestigious PhD level biogeosentience

If option B, then the filaments of your imagination have gone full on rampant and no amount of baloney can achieve the aid you desperately need.

Your 8-9 years of ignorance is on full display.
Obviously this gets into the realm of AI quantum computers and their ability to print baloney at 10 times the speed of light. We really need Swan for this assessment.

Better question: If I find those dollars and use them to buy stuff, does it increase my amount of stuff?

Radiation will not penetrate a perfect insulator, thus as I said space is not a perfect insulator.- Swan

I prefer to say that snow is usually white.

I should talk to Branner about getting my own glass display case.

GasGuzzler wrote:Obviously this gets into the realm of AI quantum computers and their ability to print baloney at 10 times the speed of light.

It's one hundred times the speed of light.

GasGuzzler wrote: We really need Swan for this assessment.

Yet again we find ourselves clamoring for Swan's input.

GasGuzzler wrote: Better question: If I find those dollars and use them to buy stuff, does it increase my amount of stuff?

Not if any of those hidden dimensions are in your sofa cushions.

White snow is just more evidence of climate change.

Good luck. Branner won't even give you a break out room.

Thank you for that correction . I've been rolling a little slow.

White cannot change.

Perhaps he will on the Danish mirror site. Hmmmmm.

We'll see if it can get James'__ Bessler wheel to turn more than 90-degrees.
