There's only 35 guests of this forum listening now, which is more than usual. 35 is still a very small number of people. It's almost like talking to your self, relatively speaking.
What is the point of putting out all the propaganda that is proliferated here. Seriously, what's the point? No one ever changes their mind.

Guests are not "listening"... they are viewing. And what's your point?? At this very moment, there are 6 guests online.

Is it? I wouldn't know what the "usual" is. I don't monitor the number of guests viewing this forum.

330,000,000 is also a very small number of people... After all, it's roughly 4% of the world's population. Very small.

However, 330,000,000 is also a rather sizable number of people... After all, it's roughly 55% of North America's population. Quite sizable.

If you don't see the point, then why do you continue to do it?

True. No one can reach into oneself, grab out one's mind, and swap it out for another one. A very astute pupil you are!

By your use of the word "motivation," are you not revealing a certain level of paranoia on your part?

People like to reassure themselves. Especially if they are living a lie and the world keeps contradicting them.

Imagine being a Flat Earther. You would get so much comfort swimming in a small pond with similarly deluded people backing you up.

People gravitate to sites where there exists a strong body of knowledge and experience, where there are independent thinkers who will challenge ideas rather than allow others to do their thinking for them. People who spend their time numbing their minds nonetheless occasionally want to taste reality, the truth.

They come to Climate-Debate. You understand this. You keep posting here because you very much need to have your own thoughts scrutinized by people you recognize as knowing much, much more than you do on the topics that you find compelling. This is why you continue to post here instead of on YAP or Debate Politics where brain activity goes to die. You can try other places but you'll be back.

Not only do you get to say whatever you need to say here, uncensored and unrestricted, you aren't pressured into any particular position or to virtue-signal to any audience. Climate-Debate is the essence of intellectual freedom ... which means honesty is allowed to flourish ... and is also why tmiddles has nothing nice to say about this site.

Imagine being an evil BLM-supporting, humanity-hating, science-fearing Marxist. You would get so much comfort in totally controlling the narrative of every single topic and in totally silencing those who are trying to be honest or those who simply have somewhat differing views. On a site like this, where such Marxists are thwarted in that regard, people like tmiddles resort to disrupting discussions instead of contributing with their own ideas ... because they don't really have any ... because they have allowed their minds to atrophy from extensive periods of allowing others to do their thinking for them.

They act as if Flat Earthers are running rampant around the world, yet I've not even one single lonely little time ever ran into any such person who believes any such thing during my 31 years of life. So, I ask you, what is your obsession with so-called "Flat Earthers" all about?

Very well said.

That's also right in line with my getting banned from DebatePolitics (a token of honor) and my current posting hiatus from JustPlainPolitics.

There is no forum in my experience that both completely recognizes and supports freedom of thought and contains as much intellectual discussion as this forum does, which is why this is my favorite forum. I participate on other forums as well, but all of them have their own individual issues (usually regarding freedom of thought restrictions of some sort) that this forum does not have.

But there is a purity to Flat Earthers and there are plenty of them (the pharmacist who was convicted of destroying vaccines last year was one)

I can tell you why a belief in flat earth is BS:
It is extremely unlikely and follows the recipe;

Nope.

It is an example of something that I believe is pure nonsense, however the ability to believe pure nonsense is enshrined in the 1st Amendment.

We already know your disdain for giving each individual freedom to think independently. I think you are going to just have to suck it up.

... but getting back to gfm7175's question ... why is the obsession with that elusive, negligible minority "the flat-earthers" a virtue-signal for the left and an exclusive rallying cry of leftists? Are leftists really reduced to reaching to such extremes? Do you really not have anything of substance around which to base some sort of position?

tmiddles wrote: There are left wing examples too:

... exactly ... and you are ashamed of every single one of them ... to the point that you will not provide any direct answers to any questions about them.

We discuss, at length, here on this site, the leftists' ability to believe absolutely anything ... and you personally serve as a shining example of belief in pure nonsense, simply because you have been ordered to believe pure nonsense by those who do your thinking for you.

Shall we review the list?

Yes, I think we shall.

You believe in Global Warming, Climate Change and greenhouse effect.

You believe that thermal energy can flow from cooler to warmer and that wood melts.

You believe that there are actually biological/physiological "races" that are not merely political pigeon holes based on superficial appearance that are used to promulgate cross-sectionalism, identity politics and general unhappiness.

You believe that rampant violence should be encouraged in, and effected by, particular groups based on their appearance, i.e. their "race(s)" (see above) and that We the People should be rendered totally defenseless in the face of that violence.

You believe that the 1st Amendment grants governments the power to render certain thoughts and emotions illegal.

You believe that art should be destroyed if the personage was of someone you declare as not a good person.

You believe that it's OK for a government to summarily execute a true patriot without any sort of trial if that person might possibly be a supporter of someone you hate or if that person is occupying a government building.

You deny science and math.

You think history should be revised, particularly to smooth out what you consider the unsavory parts so as to invent a new "history" that is much more exciting to teach to our children.

You believe that Islam is a race and that travel restrictions during an investigation are racist.

You believe there is no daytime side of the moon.

You sngle-handedly make flat-earthers seem rational and reasonable.

The above has exposed your collective unwillingness to address how BS can be identified.

I can tell you why a belief in any of the above is BS yet

A: the leftist wants it to be true (bias)
B: includes an excuse for any contradiction ,(a vast all powerful conspiracy)

Since that recipe will validate anything, it is good for nothing.

Why don't you take a shot at it and answer the below questions posed to you,(warning: your own BS may not survive your own diagnosis):

1) What are the unambiguous definitions of Global Warming, Climate Change and Greenhouse Effect that neither violate nor deny physics? [Status: Unanswered]
2) Why should any rational adult believe in either Global Warming, Climate Change or Greenhouse Effect? [Status: Unanswered]
3) How can I unambiguously demonstrate to my children thermal energy flowing from cooler to warmer? [Status: Unanswered]
4) How can I know the temperature of a large, unspecified volume, e.g. Denver, to within, say, 10degF with only one temperature measurement, e.g. the Denver airport? [Status: Unanswered]
5) What are the unambiguous definitions of "race," "negro," "black people," "white people," "brown people," "white supremacy," "white nationalsim," "white nationalist," "white supremacist," "black supremacist" and "racist"? [Status: Unanswered]
6) Is there an official list of races? [Status: Unanswered]
- 6a) How do I determine my own race or that of my children? [Status: Unanswered]
7) Why should any rational adult believe that there is a problem of racism in the United States? [Status: Unanswered]
8) Why should law abiding citizens be rendered defenseless before rampant violent crime? [Status: Unanswered]
9) Where in the 1st Amendment is "hate" prohibited such that, if shown, a prosecutor can throw someone in jail for having had that emotion/thought? [Status: Unanswered]
10) Why do you claim that an atmosphere only makes a planet's or moon's solid surface hotter since you are fully aware that no place at the bottom of earth's atmosphere ever reaches anywhere close to the daytime temperatures of the moon's atmosphereless solid surface? [Status: Unanswered]
11) If we were to discover that Lisa Gherardini was actually a shitty person, would that justify Black Lives Matter storming the Louvre to destroy the Mona Lisa? [Status: Unanswered]
12) Why should we destroy artifacts and relics pertaining to history that we never want to forget or repeat? [Status: Unanswered]
13) The Aztecs committed genocide of many other tribes and practiced human sacrifice; should their artwork and artifacts be destroyed? [Status: Unanswered]
14) Why would you or anyone pretend to be a judge of what history is to be revised or destroyed? [Status: Unanswered]
15) In what substantive/meaningful way do the platforms of Black Lives Matter, ANTIFA, The National Organization of Women, the DNC, Communist Party USA and Socialist Party USA ... differ? [Status: Unanswered]
16) Which type of wood are you claiming melts (assuming the proper temperature and pressure) ... and what is that specific temperature and pressure? [Status: Unanswered]
17) Why should any rational adult believe that the earth's emissivity is somehow changing to any perceptible extent? [Status: Unanswered]
18) What evidence do you have that the hockey stick slashers you presented were neither BLM or ANTIFA? [Status: Unanswered]
19) What evidence do you have that any of the hockey stick slashers you presented were arrested and are now in prison? [Status: Unanswered]
20) Why do you oppose Trump's entry restrictions (into the USA) as being racist on members of a particular religion from six particular countries (while he investigates certain problems) and yet you support Biden's black racial requirement for the Supreme Court (which is clearly illegal per the Civil Rights Act of 1964? [Status: Unanswered]
21) Why do you scream red-faced at the mere rumor of violence by Trump supporters yet you go to the mat in defense of BLM and ANTIFA violence documented in video and photographs? [Status: Unanswered]
22) So how was Ashli Babbit, a peaceful, unarmed occupier of a government building, treasonous? [Status: Unanswered]
