The energy companies are doing something similar to what the tobacco companies once did. The public was frequently alerted to what the tobacco companies were doing, but the public is not being alerted now about what the energy companies are doing. Why? The tobacco companies kept telling the public there was no proof that smoking caused cancer, hiring or bribing some scientists to say the tobacco companies were right, and planting news stories. The energy companies are dishonestly doing something similar and have dishonestly convinced many people that fossil fuels do not cause greenhouse warming, and the great majority of scientist are perpetuating a hoax. It would help if people were being frequently told that the energy companies are being dishonest in these ways. However, the public isn't being told what is happening. Why? Jim |

I think there are sides to the misinformation 1). Does man made global action exist? I actually think most people believe this one. Even through lots of people are shouting a loud NO 2). How urgent is it to do something? This is where the world is losing. Mainly because everyone needs to do something. China, US, India they all need to do something and if one goes alone their citizens lose and the world might not even be improved. This combined with the plausible deniability created by 1 is where the world gets tied up in knots |
