CO2 is a life essential compound. Everyone knows this. Organic chemistry involves molecules with carbon. Star Trek the movie referred to humans as "carbon-based units."

Remind me again why we want to reduce our carbon "footprint."

Bender answered that question for you. "Kill all humans".

I may be wrong... But plants are the only food source, that pulls carbon out of the environment, through their leaves, not their roots. 400 ppm isn't even close to what plants do best with, just good enough to survive.

The 'Green New Deal' suggests that we all go 'vegan', and that we should stop meat production, do to the methane production of grazing mammals, another potent 'greenhouse' gas, smelly too. Since grazers are gassy, do to their diet, wouldn't adopting a grazing diet, simply shift the gassy problem over to humans? Grazers do a lot of pre-processing for us, so we don't have to eat as much, or as often. Really sounds like a fun lifestyle change, spend all my free time eating, or using up the toilet paper, at an alarming rate, and getting stuck using mass transit, packed in a small space, with a bunch of gassy humans. Least there won't be anyone lighting a cigarette... Guess they could just vent all that gas into a collection chamber, to help fuel the bus or train, free energy...

You have made an astute observation. A solid bump in atmospheric CO2 would be unnoticeable to us but would be a major boon to plant life around the world.

So if we are being called to shift to a plant-based diet, and then we are being told to reduce to the point of elimination our atmospheric CO2, I don't see how that could end well.

Great point.

You are completely misunderstanding their use of the word "accumulation"! - Climate Scientist.

The Stefan-Boltzman equation doesn't come up with the correct temperature if greenhouse gases are not considered - Hank

:*sigh* Not the "raw data" crap. - Leafsdude

IB STILL hasn't explained what Planck's Law means. Just more hand waving that it applies to everything and more asserting that the greenhouse effect 'violates' it.- Ceist
